Quantum "Self" Recovery was developed by a PTSD Vet who needed to find a way to deal with the compulsive thoughts and destructive emotions associated with PTSD, outside the traditional theistic recovery programs. Having spent years in and out of prison and institutions the founder wanted to create a practice that could be utilized by Veterans who suffer from Combat Trauma/ PTSD. The Meditation and Mindfulness Practice QSR teaches allows the Veteran to observe these compulsive thoughts and emotions, creating the opportunity for the individual to make a choice, while lowering the impact of stress.
Recovery traditionally has been viewed as a place you get to. Some far off goal to be achieved. It is almost heresy within traditional recovery ideology to state that you have "recovered". Once consciousness is regained "I" experience that "I" was never the labels my ego and pain attached to it"self"; such as, alcoholic, victim, addict, worthless, greatest, mentally ill, etc. As long as "I" cling to these labels for identity and emotional history to nurture pain, it is impossible to be fully present, truly experiencing life. So, we must be still, observe our thoughts and emotions, and bid farewell to the weapon of time, the bondage of self, and the baggage of past pain. For every moment we are truly present...we are truly recovered!
Consciousness must be experienced prior to any attempt to apply language to describe it. Personally, Spiritual Consciousness has been an awakening, as a result of internalizing the truth that I am not my thoughts and emotions. When we awake to our connection with the universe, we can observe mind, body, and emotion. Suddenly the question, “Who am I?” which we used too answer with our occupation, addiction, gender, marital status, possessions, etc., which is really the answer to the question,“What am I?” Now the only answer to "Who am I" is, “I just Am.”
Quantum Recovery is a path of spiritual consciousness utilizing meditation, mindfulness, compassion, community, outreach, mentor ship, and contemplative precepts designed to increase self-awareness while decreasing ego and the impact of past pain. The purpose of this evolution in recovery methodology is to create a spiritual foundation (outside of traditional theistic and/or fundamental doctrine) through a mindfulness practice with the intention of providing a practical path of enduring inner peace, joy, and compassion for all who suffer.
